The Last Alarm HERO WOD

On Saturday, May 26, at 10am, CrossFit York will host a Memorial Workout to honor the lives and service of Ivan Flanscha and Zachary Anthony, who died on March 22nd, 2018 in the Weaver Organ and Piano building fire.

Two separate but back-to-back workouts, completed in teams of 2 or 4 with body armor or vests (20#- males / 14#- females)

WOD #1: Ivan Flanscha
AMRAP 20* [Ivan served for 20 years]
99 Mountain climbers [station number]
6 DB squats (50# x 2 / 35# x 2) [the 5 girls and wife he left behind]
50′ (10’ increments) DB Carry (50# x 2 / 35# x 2) [age when he died]
* the reps of each movement must be completed before proceeding to the next movement
Then:
1300 M Run [distance between CF York and Station 99 where they both worked]

WOD #2: Zachary Anthony
AMRAP 29 [age at death]
3 Pull ups
22 Deadlifts (95#/65#)
18 Behind the neck barbell (95#/65#) step ups (24”/20”)
* the reps of each movement must be completed before proceeding to the next movement

60 min time cap for both WODS.

Work flow for team of FOUR:

All four team mates start by standing on a 4×6 mat transition mat.

  • On “GO,” pair 1 will start on WOD #1 (sharing the work as necessary); pair 2 will start on WOD #2 (sharing the work as necessary).
  • When pair 1 completes the AMRAP, they take the 1300m run together.
  • When pair 2 completes WOD 2 they move onto the transition mat.
  • Once all the team members are on the mat, they switch and complete the other WOD
  • All members must be on the transition mat to complete the event

Firefighter Flanscha began his career with the department on February 8, 1999. He received the 2004 Firefighter of the Year award and was awarded commendations in 2000 and 2014 for bravery. Ivan was assigned to Engine 99-1 on B Platoon. He was 50 years old when he died. He is survived by his wife and 5 children.

Firefighter Anthony began his career with the department on August 9, 2010. Zach was assigned to Engine 99-1 on D Platoon. He was a well-respected member of the department.  He was a caring and dedicated firefighter. Zach was 29 years old. He is survived by his wife and immediate family.
