Plyo: What’s going on right now?

New Strongman Class! Beginning on Monday, June 15, coach Tony will be hosting a weekly strongman class at 7:30pm. Who is strongman for? The short answer is everyone!  Strongman training increases real world strength, because in the real world we a required to move awkward objects as efficiently as possible. Barbells only exist in the gym. The movements done during strongman training help develop the posterior chain and increase core strength and stability.  The movements are scalable for any strength and skill level.

Most classes will consist of a lift, a skill, and a workout.  Be prepared to push, pull and carry!

New Kids’ Sessions Added for the Summer: We have included Tuesday and Thursday kids’ sessions at 9:30am. These classes will be offered temporarily for a few weeks so we can determine interest/attendance. If the sessions are well-attended, they will remain on the schedule for the balance of the summer.

Heavy: CrossFit York athletes being awesome!

Bailey Druck competed in the USAW Youth Nationals in Daytona Beach, FL, on Saturday. He PRed AND came in first place in his flight AND qualified for Junior Nationals. With a total of 207kgs (100kg snatch; 107 clean and jerk), he’ll be representing CrossFit York and the White Rose Barbell Club in Philadelphia this January. Way to go, Bailey!

Bob Inners attended a York Revolution game on Saturday night, and he (along with with three other spectators) was selected to wear a cow costume and to race from the center field gate, around the warning track to the finish line in front of the third base dug out.  He reports, “Although it was all in fun, everyone wanted to win.  I sprinted to victory in front of 5,000 cheering fans.” He attributes his ability to beat out his cow-costume-wearing competitors to CrossFit York’s training.

There were 18 awesome athletes at our first women’s lift on Saturday morning! If you still are interested in joining Bar Belles, it’s not too late! 8:30am on Saturdays – give Madeline a heads up if you plan to come.
