Athlete Profile: Melissa Lese
This begins our weekly athlete profile... Thanks so much to Melissa Lese for being a good sport (pun intended, of course).
How long have you been crossfitting? 15 months
Which session do you typically attend? Typically the 9:30am but if I am working I attend the 6am, 4pm or 6:30pm. I love the weekend workouts if I can get in.
What do you do when you're not crossfitting? I spend time with my family and friends. My three daughters play soccer so I am busy during the week with their practices and our weekends are crazy busy with games and tournaments :) I also play on a USTA Tennis league.
What's your favorite thing about CrossFit York? I love working out in a short amount of time and giving it all I have. I crack up at how we all walk in, look at the board and stare at it for 5 minutes thinking it will change!
Fill in the blank: "When I walk into the box and I see __ in the WOD, I know I'm going to kill the workout." Hmmm... Do sit-ups count?!! Editor's note: yes, they do!
Which movements challenge you? Why? Double unders! I had them and lately they have gone away and are my biggest challenge... Not sure if switching ropes did it but they are a mess! Overhead squats are a challenge too... I need to go light weight so my squats get low. If I have heavy weight, I just can't get low in my squat.
What would you say to someone who is on the fence about trying CrossFit? You've got to try it. Everything can be scaled based on what you can do. I couldn't do pull-ups when I started, & now I can. Once you try Crossfit, you will be hooked.
We totally agree, Melissa! Thanks for being such an inspiration!
