FAQ Why is the price so expensive? Is CrossFit right for me? How “in shape” do I need to be to attend the sessions? Is it possible to get the attention I may need in a group setting? What Exactly is a CrossFit Affiliate? How Do I start?
Why is the price so expensive? The real question is “What is the value of CrossFit York’s service?”
First what you get: 1. We offer group or individual sessions only, we do not offer "open" gym time, so you will always work with a trainer/coach. 2. Each session will have 1-12 clients, but no more than 12 clients per trainer/coach. 3. Unlimited classes per week/ month. 4. 50-60 minutes per class. 5. A phone call / e-mail in the event that you "fall off the wagon"
Benefits: 1. A personal trainer and multiple workout partners (any fitness magazine will suggest getting a trainer or a workout partner to help stay motivated)
2. Real results. This is more of a cliché these days; however, Crossfit by design will improve your fitness quickly as long as you stick with the program (we ensure your success, see above)
A local “globo gym” offers, as their best rate for personal training, $ 360.00 / month (requires a 6-12 month commitment, with a strict cancellation policy) for three 30 min. sessions per week (12 sessions per month), so $60.00 / hour
We operate 6 days a week, so you could feasibly meet with a trainer for 1 hour 6 times a week (24 sessions) per month @ $ 160.00 / month (our most expensive rate), so that's $ 6.67 per hour. If you attended 3 sessions a week per month, that would be $ 13.34 per hour.
The next time you are in a “globo gym”, look around at the number of machines. Each machine (treadmill, fly, cable, etc.) averages $ 5,000.00. A “globo gym” offering a dirt cheap membership (typically with an iron clad & impossible to break contract) will require several hundred to thousands of members to stay in business. Imagine if every member showed up at the same time. The bottom line is that the typical “globo gym” business model centers around selling memberships to people who infrequently or never show up. Crossfit York strives on the success of our members

Is CrossFit right for me? The simple answer “YES” It doesn’t matter what your actual fitness goals are, CrossFit will help you achieve them quickly. By executing a variety of compound functional movements at a high intensity you will certainly improve in all 10 aspects of fitness The hidden benefits are as follows:
1. Fat Burning- Compound functional movements utilize more muscles which burns fat much faster than isolation movements.
2. Never Bored- The constantly varied WOD (workouts of the day) means that you will never do the same “routine” EVER. Although the WODs are based on a core group of movements. The order, combinations, reps, rounds, etc. are always varied. Each day is different, each week is different.
3. Constant Improvement-
The variety of exercises also means that your body will never get used to, or adapt to a particular exercise routine. You will never plateau. All WOD’s are based on repeatable and measurable (timed) exercises. So from time to time you will execute a past WOD to see if it can be done faster than before.
4. Motivation-
All WODs are lead by a trainer or coach to ensure proper and safe execution of the movements. In addition to the trainer, you may also be among other clients in a group setting. Finally all WOD’s have a time element, to encourage you to push harder.

Is it possible to get the attention I may need in a group setting?
Our trainers are CPR/ First Aid certified and have at least a Crossfit certification (most of us have multiple fitness related certifications) We are taught to handle large groups; however, in most cases, the client to trainer ratio will never be greater than 12 to 1. If necessary, we will add a second or third trainer. We are trained to keep you safe while improving your fitness level. We will let you know if you are doing something unsafe or improperly.
