Plyo: What’s going on right now?

We will be postponing the 2014 Summer Classic for a later date. If you registered a team, you will receive a refund (or you may elect to reserve your space for the new date). See Rusty for details.

This week’s schedule will include two special days:

  • On July 4, we will have ONE HOLIDAY WOD at 10am. Come prepared to work off all the hot dogs and potato salad you’ll surely be eating later that day. !!

  • On July 5, we’ll have a special WOD in honor of Lindsay, who will be representing us at the USAW Nationals this month. Unfortunately, we will NOT have the t-shirts in time for the festivities, but we’ll make a point to gather and take pictures once they do come in.

Endurance: What’s coming up?

CrossFit York is excited to support the 2014 Can-Am Police-Fire Games by hosting The CrossFit York Experience for Games competitors, friends, family, spectators, and the general public on Saturday, July 12, from 10-4. A portion of all proceeds for this event will go to the Make-a-Wish Foundation.

The CrossFit York Experience is a way to experience CrossFit in a friendly, social environment through participation in a CrossFit WOD (workout of the day) in true competitive style.

For more information, click on “Special Events” on the CrossFit York website.

The White Rose Barbell Open is FULL! However, we have opened 50 more spots and will extend the event to include Sunday sessions, so if you have not registered yet you still have a chance! Lifting during a meet is an awesome experience… just ask any one of our athletes who have participated in one.

CrossFit York Summer Pool Party is on Saturday, July 26 at 630 at the Fullam’s place. Please RSVP on the Facebook event page, and make sure to think up a fun snack or dish to share!

Plyo: What’s going on right now?

New Strongman Class!

Tony is hosting a weekly strongman class on Mondays at 7:30pm. Who is strongman for? The short answer is everyone!  Strongman training increases real world strength, because in the real world we a required to move awkward objects as efficiently as possible. Barbells only exist in the gym. The movements done during strongman training help develop the posterior chain and increase core strength and stability.  The movements are scalable for any strength and skill level.

Most classes will consist of a lift, a skill, and a workout.  Be prepared to push, pull and carry!

New Kids’ Sessions Added for the Summer: We have included Tuesday and Thursday kids’ sessions at 9:30am. These classes will be offered temporarily for a few weeks so we can determine interest/attendance. If the sessions are well-attended, they will remain on the schedule for the balance of the summer.

Bob Inners attended a York Revolution game on Saturday night, and he (along with with three other spectators) was selected to wear a cow costume and to race from the center field gate, around the warning track to the finish line in front of the third base dug out.  He reports, “Although it was all in fun, everyone wanted to win.  I sprinted to victory in front of 5,000 cheering fans.” He attributes his ability to beat out his cow-costume-wearing competitors to CrossFit York’s training.

There were 18 awesome athletes at our first women’s lift on Saturday morning! If you still are interested in joining Bar Belles, it’s not too late! 8:30am on Saturdays – give Madeline a heads up if you plan to come.

CrossFit York Represents at Firestock!

tonyfirestock

Saturday May 31 was Santander Field’s first Firestock, an event with tattoo artists, an arcade, music, and lots and lots of fireworks. CrossFit York was on-site with a few fun items to share! Tony and Rusty got a pretty good workout themselves demonstrating tire flips and stone lifts to just about every walk of life. They drew quite a crowd, and lots of people stepped up to “test their mettle.” This was a successful outing for CFY. A shout-out to Bailey Druck, Missy Force, and Ken and Amanda Sweigart for their help with set up and tear down.
